Best Shortbread

It's starting to get cold out. Perfect baking weather. These are my favorite go to cookies! So simple it only needs 4 ingredients! But SO yummy. Sometimes I even dip them in melted dark chocolate.  MMM.

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup flour
  • Pinch salt
  • Tiny splash of Vanilla (if you're feeling like it)


Cream butter, salt and sugar (and vanilla). Add flour with pastry blender until flour is just incorporated. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for 2 - 3 hours (or freeze for up to a month). 

Pre head oven to 325 degrees F. Roll out dough on lightly floured surface, 1/4" thick. Use cookie cutters to make shapes. placed onto un-greased cookie sheet. Let cut out cookies chill in refrigerator again for 10 minutes. Bake for 15 minutes or until slightly brown.
