I've been learning to cook and bake since I was very young. And am slowly trying to learn traditional french pastry methods. I can't wait to try some of the most delicious looking recipes in this book from the French Bakery Ladurée. Oh, and the book design and packaging is just stunningly beautiful. I wish everything was made with such thought. I hope to visit one day soon.

As a child, I always imagined becoming a pastry chef when I grew up. I took many candy making & baking classes and bought tons of books and tools. 

When I lived in Brooklyn, I started my own small baking business. I'm not sure I could do it again as a job, but in my own home, on a small scale, I am seriously in LOVE with baking still. 

I used this cake recipe & this icing recipe.

Salmon Nicoise & Sunday Brunch

This past sunday we had a few wonderful friends over for brunch. I made my fav. brunch menu Salmon Nicoise & Scones (lemon & blackberry). Also made a delicious Apple Cake.  It's so nice to be in the kitchen sometimes and even nicer to share delicious food with those you love. A perfect winter day, lots of wintery snow outside & warm espresso & tea inside.

I know it's a silly holiday, but I love anything romantic. So I designed a couple of valentines. They'd also be sweet for a wedding . . . 

HUMUNUKU SHOPPE

Hand Lettered

This year is shaping up to be a great one. I have an amazing new intern, set up a more efficient screen printing studio, working on some new projects for Humunuku, and am hoping to travel a bit more. 

I love hand lettered type and have always wanted to learn calligraphy.  It's pretty hard for me, but fun.  I'm also researching different materials to use in the future, like paper and envelopes that are sustainable and conscientiously made. We already do custom design & print through the shop, but this is the beginning of what I hope will be a beautiful line of WEDDING goods for the shop.

A friend and I had a fun day running around taking photos in the snow. It was very cold, but the light was beautiful and it was great starting to shoot film again.
