Lasagna

Cisco are you happy? I'm actually writing a recipe down that I've created from my head :)

Lasagna is something that takes a while and makes a lot so, make a bunch in smaller dishes and freeze them for those nights you don't want to cook! Read through the recipe first and adjust as you see fit, as I've only made it once and didn't measure a thing! :) Have fun. It was WONDERFUL though. (ps. you could even eliminate the beef and switch to veggie stock for a vegetarian one).

Ingredients
Ground Beef
Fresh Lasagna Pasta
Beef Stock

Can Diced Tomatoes
Bottle Tomato Sauce

Swiss Chard
Cauliflower
Carrots
Onions
Garlic
Celery
Bell Pepper

Ricotta
Mozzarella Cheese
Parmesan Cheese
Pecorino Romano Cheese

Bread Crumbs
Butter

Olive Oil
Salt & Pepper

Directions
Chop veggies (onion, cauliflower, carrots, bell pepper, onions, celery) in bite sized pieces (+add whole pieces of garlic.) Toss with olive oil, salt and pepper. Roast on roasting pan 400 degrees until just browned.

Boil Swiss Chard in beef stock until wilted. Drain & cool. Reserve Stock. Boil pasta in Beef Stock. Chop swiss chard, add salt & pepper then mix with Ricotta, 1/2 the mozzarella, 1/2 parmesan, and 1/2 Romano.

Brown ground beef in pan until just cooked. Drain fat. Mix in roasted veggies, diced tomatoes, and tomato sauce.

Layer as follows. Pasta. 1/2 veggie and meat mixture. Dot with Swiss Chard Ricotta mixture. Sprinkle with cheeses. Pasta. Remaining half veggie and meat mixture. Dot with Swiss Chard Ricotta mixture. Sprinkle with cheeses. Pasta. All Cheeses, bread crumbs. Dot with Butter.

In the oven for around 30 minutes at 350 degrees. Or until bubbly and golden brown on top.

Papaya

Sewing is my warm weather hobby. I'm not very good, but I think I may actually have made something wearable. I tried to recreate a dress I saw at Steven Alan a few seasons back. Not even close :) But it's cute enough for everyday wear. We've been printing up a storm lately which feels great. Those are bunches of lilacs, which I plan to print 'miss you' beneath.

Many days in high school I ate a papaya with fresh lime for breakfast. Sometimes I can find a sweet one around here, which is a nice treat. In my first sculpture class in college, I made a large papaya piece out of laminated wood with black wax balls as the seeds. It was pretty funny.

Pour Over

We are usually espresso drinkers, but this morning I was out of milk to make a cappuccino, so I thought I'd make some pour over coffee. It was perfect. I'd love to go to that Intelligentsia Coffee in Chicago one day.

Displays

I'm not sure if you know my husband :) But he's amazing. With a few shows coming up I asked him to make me a card display that fit into our aesthetic. And voilĂ ! I love it and can't wait to display the new cards we've been making on it.

We are also going to be in a show this coming week, so if you are in town, come by and say hello. More info here.

New Printed Bunny Notebook

New BUNNY NOTEBOOK in the shop. I only made a few.
I love having small notebooks around me all the time so I can jot down ideas, and endless lists.

Jade

Here's the pic. Remember when I just bought this plant? It was 2008 in Brooklyn. I'm just can't believe I've kept it up for this long! And I finally got a large cutting mat for my workspace. I've wanted needed a big one for years. *That acrylic square is to finally start my quilting project that I've been dying to make.

Growing

I don't have much of a green thumb. It's something I hope to develop though. Especially with my own food. My mother, father, and both sides of grandparents are wonderful at gardening. Remember these? The only one that is still alive is the Jade, obviously because that one needs the least amount of attention. I'll show you a photo of how huge it's gotten.

My mother in law brought this herb garden kit for me to start growing in doors until it's warm out. So far so good! I can't wait until they are big and ready to eat!

As a kid my grandma would go out back and cut fresh flowers to have in her house. I always said when I have my own house I wanted to do the same. She has tons of flowers everywhere, (it does helps that she lives on Maui, where it's always nice.) Hasn't happened for me yet here in upstate NY, but Cisco will sometimes buy me fresh flowers which is just as sweet.

Pico de Gallo

It must seem like I make this a lot, but I really don't. The colors are just so pretty to photograph. I loosely base my recipe on this Pico de Gallo. No measuring, just tasting till it's great. I think it's because the weather is starting to warm up, I crave light fresh foods. Like fish tacos! yum.

Movies & Coffee

I saw two movies recently that I've been wanting to see for a while. The Romantics, and Blue Valentine. Ryan Gosling & Michelle Williams are two of my favorite actors and they did a great job. It was directed well & the cinematography was beautiful, story line, depressing.

If ever in Binghamton & need a coffee, try Laveggio's downtown. They roast it right there and is probably some of the best coffee I've ever had. They make Cappuccino's the right way. Perfect proportions.

I'm getting better at my own cappuccino's at home. More cappuccino art on my twitter :)

Green Beans & Rice

For dinner yesterday I made Chicken Katsu, which used to be my favorite dish growing up. But instead of pairing it with plain white rice, I've found an easy way to throw in a veggie. I trimmed some green beans and added it to the rice pot with a little extra water. Comfort food. Mmm. Forgot to take the finished photo, also forgot to switch the iso down, hence the grainy images.

I know I said I wanted to print that one elephant with many colors. Well . .  that didn't work out. I really tried, I just couldn't separate the colors in a way I liked. Cisco convinced me a single color line drawing looked best. I'm happy with it. Just going to add another color for wording, then they'll be done! Tea Towels & Tote Bags :)

Sewing . . .

I found these two quilting squares at the fabric store and decided to make Koali a tote for all her doggy stuff. I wanted something girly, because everyone thinks she's a boy! I will have to find her something cute to wear. The tote was pretty simple to sew, but it's a little wonky, as I rushed through it. It does do the job though.

ps. don't look at the messy house in the background, I tried to use a low fstop

Thursday Already!

Holy moly it's Thursday already! Where did this week go? That's Koali sitting with her daddy looking very cat like this past weekend. She cracks me up! There was so much sunshine that morning. Not today, it's rainy and dark. I may have to do some printing at home today.

Weddings

I've been busy the last few days with my mother in law in town.  She's been a pleasure, helping me with first friday at the shop, printing, and organizing my mess! I'm trying to edit some photos from a wedding we shot a few months ago, to post on the Wedding Photo site.
