Finding A New Living Room Rug

I'm on the hunt for a new rug. I love our living room throw Rug (which I got on sale at Pier1!). I love the pattern and that it's made of natural fibers, but I'm not happy about the size. It's too small. So I'm hoping to find something new and put this one in one of the bedrooms. I'd love something really soft and luxurious like this rug, because I think a good carpet really makes a room's feel warm. But I've also always wanted a traditional style like this one or this one, because the detail is gorgeous. This is something I'll be thinking about . . .

Behind the scenes

This weekend, we drove way out in the middle of New York state to meet up with some sweet friends and their baby. It was great to see them and even more fun because we had a little photo shoot and first ever video shoot! I cannot wait to show everyone what we've put together . . .

Sea Hag New Stockist

Guess what? We are selling some of our wares locally. Well sort of. In Brackney, PA, just over the boarder, there is a wonderful little artisan shop called Sea Hag. Go browse through tons of beautifully made things.
Also my assistant Laura's sweet animal drawings will be up for sale! Please take peek when you can.

The Master Bedroom

Under Construction! I think I've mentioned that Cisco started working upstairs on the master suite again! I am still beyond excited and can't wait until it's done. I've been putting together ideas on Pinterest for how I'd like to decorate it. Cisco built me a big beautiful mirror last year, I found one online that looks similar here. It'll look great in that big space. I'd love some interesting lighting around the bed or even something soft and warm in the closet. So much to think about . . .

New Linens

I've been obsessed with white linens since forever. All the curtains I ever buy are white, usually just plain white. Sometimes I'll get a little crazy and it will have a pattern or texture, but that's pushing it. But lately I've been becoming bored. I want something different. We wont go over board here, but maybe a flower pattern like these would be nice or a bold print in a deep color

Cisco and I have finally gotten back to working on building our master bedroom, & I can't wait to start looking for new sheets . . . maybe I'll try something exciting.

365 #Grateful

If you haven't read my last post about this. I've started a project inspired by Hailey's 365 Day Grateful Project. But so not to overwhelm myself, I've started with a 30 Day Project. Using instagram I plan on hash tagging this project with the word "#grateful."  It's been fun pushing myself to really see everything around me in a more positive way.

Colorful Hydrangeas

My attempts at gardening has been slowly (read very slowly) improving with time. And although I did plant a hydrangea bush, it never flowered.

Both my mother and grandmothers are amazing when it comes to gardening. I'm still learning, but I have faith in myself. My grandma always had fresh flowers in her house and I grew up wanting that for myself, so until I can grow them myself, I will buy flowers for my home. The blue ones were from Wegmans (the best grocery store ever) and the pink ones (which color I LOVE are from my father-in-law's yard) I have some traditional vases, but I just love using other vessels for display. Flowers in carafes are beautiful, a single bud in a tiny glass jar is nice, or even water pitchers work great. I love having many different sizes and shapes.

Photog. tip: Here's a little behind the scenes shot of the photo above. I always try to use natural light and lots of reflectors. It bounces and softens the light so well, and assists in getting more information in the shadows when shooting into light.

365 #Grateful

I've been completely inspired by this project lately, 365 Grateful and it's film. And although I'm giving myself shorter goals (for now), I plan on doing a little gratitude project of my own. So everyday for the month of October I will take a photo on Instagram and label it #grateful. And eventually post them here also.

I'm starting to realize just how important gratitude is to life and it's a wonderful feeling what good it brings.
